Dear Parents/Carers,
I am writing to inform you that the Board of Governors of St. Mary's Primary School and Nursery Unit have taken the collective decision to close tomorrow in light of the amber weather warning currently in place.
All Primary Schools and Post-Primary Schools in the Newcastle, Castlewellan and Dundrum areas will close.
As a school, we have a duty of care to our pupils, staff, and wider school community, and we must ensure that no one is put at unnecessary risk when travelling to or from school.
We recognise the significant inconvenience that short‑notice closures can cause, and this decision has not been taken lightly. However, the safety of our pupils, staff and the entire school community must remain our top priority.
